The product safety assessment and the product safety report based on it is intended to prove that a cosmetic product is safe and does not pose a threat to human health when used under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.
In order to demonstrate that a cosmetic product complies with the regulations, the responsible person shall, prior to placing a cosmetic product on the market, ensure that the cosmetic product has undergone a safety assessment on the basis of the relevant information and that a cosmetic product safety report is produced. This report must be updated in the event that any further relevant information is received after starting the distribution
The safety assessment may only be carried out by a qualified person, who has the adequate professional experience and qualifications specified by the regulation.
